Body and neck now routed. A little more shaping and finessing to do on both plus a slight tear-out on the head which will need to be fixed (somehow). Still a lot of work to do.

My router arrived before the weekend so I could finally get the body cut to shape.
Routers are ace...

Cutting to frets before shaping the fingerboard to give me a guide when its done.

Labels:

Body rough cut and tickled with the plane to thickness and to level.

Time to start cutting the body shape, again by hand. Its one hefty piece of alder and it took a good few hours to rough out the shape with a coping saw.

Slot cut, hole drilled and rod fitted. And it fits!

Drilling and chipping the slot for the truss rod. No router yet so doing it by hand to get the job started.

Fingerboard was 2mm too thick so it needed a tickle with the plane.
Thank goodness for sharp tools.

Stage 1
Getting the neck ready for construction.
Neck blank, truss rod, rosewood fingerboard and pre-made MDF template.
Just got to stick them together and cut it out!

Warming up for a new era of blog.
I might have to change the name...
Nah, I like it.
